Recipes And Remedies

Inspired by Ayurveda, Good Gut Health, Metabolic Health and Hormonal Balance, Recipes and Remedies is a window into what nourishes, soothes and energies me from the inside out. Using as much seasonal, organic, unprocessed and local produce as I am able to source. Ayurveda has a phrase for this; SOUL FOOD. Each month I’ll share my trusted go to recipes and remedies via my newsletter, sign up HERE

Recipes and Remedies has come about from a request to share recipes. So the first recipe is my nourishing, time saving, favourite soup, one that I turn to again and again. This delicious soup takes less than an hour to prep and cook. It’s a big big hug in a bowl.

When I cook with broccoli I add mustard. This powerful spice actively allows the body to absorb broccoli's phytochemicals. These positively effect the immune system and supports healthy cell turnover. Both broccoli and cauliflower are from the cruciferous family and are great liver cleansing foods. For women bad estrogen is broken down in the liver, so we need to keep the liver happy!

Cruciferous vegetables are food precursors for estrogen production. I’ve included sunflower and pumpkin seeds to the soup as both promote the production of progesterone. Although this soup is good for everyone it's especially good for women, a quick delicious recipe that packs a taste punch and supports hormonal balance.

If the above wasn’t enough, these cruciferous vegetables support microbial activity and act as a natural antibiotic for certain bacterias. They also contain Vitamins C, K and B.

Recipe: Cauliflower, Leek and Broccoli Soup (a bowlful of love)

Remedy: Great for poor digestion - before eating, chew a thin slice of organic ginger, sprinkled with good mineral salt. This will kindle your digestive fire (Agni in Ayurveda) and help with digestion.

Take it as given that all ingredients are organic, olive oil is extra virgin and all oils are cold pressed and in glass bottles.
